My Father and Astrology

[1] "Don't go to higher buildings ("terrace") or very high places for the next 15 days" was my father's (Baba) advice to me when I was in USA. He NEVER spoke more than 15 seconds on the phone. (He thought I wasted time & money - $0.55 per min during those times while talking to folks in India! :) He is 1 born aloof and I'm 11 born "friendly" guy). I was like -- there is no high-rise stuff in Bloomington, IL! :) and also, we had recently been to the sears tower. I said to him there is no plan etc == he in his characteristics style cut me off and said "whatever, just don't go to taller places as there is possibility of "fires at heights"" ... I asked him is Mangal-Ketu close now (Wasn't following day to day planets those times.). He said yeah and they are closer now in Dhanu rashi and Moola nakshatra. Fire & height (Ketu) in the fire sign and an intense nakshatra. So, fire at heights was his logical conclusion.

I was like -- "whatever"! :) What happened next was 9/11. As this discussion was back in 2001 August end or so when he advised me of that. He was NEVER interested in personal chart analysis but mapped everything happening in the world to major planetary formations. He is the guy who would say things like "Shani in Leo so now democrats will win again Obama like carter in 1978" or "Shani in Leo so it is like political Earthquake". Os "Shani Ketu together -- cyclones!" or "Shani in Cancer and Guru in Hasta nakshatra -- RAINS -- lots of it -- (July2005)" and so on.

I'm NOT claiming that he could predict 9/11 nor the Obama or Carter stuff -- just that he knew "KAARAKatva" of planets and "he observed" and he thought. (we sometimes forget that we are ALLOWED to think" :) :) ) With a cigarette in this hand - -he thought and thought and made ITC successful. :)

He is like any 1 (1 10 19 28) born guy is a MACRO-Picture guy. He is NOT interested in detailing of a chart or to go beyond Ascendant and Moon and Sun MAX -- and STILL able to say something VERY VERY peculiar about a chart! How he started some interest in astrology was an extreme personal experience below:

[2] My father has hardly read any book on astrology and he always had an innate disrespect to anyone talking "godly" with him! :) He has tremendous belief in God and of course he was Saibaba Bhakt from childhood due to family connection with Baba. He particularly disrespected astrologers and anyone who predicts stuff. He was told by multiple astrologers of very short life which made him further almost hate astrology. He said it is between me and the God and if Baba wishes he will live longer. He was told his 36th year as "THE" year and he should "prepare". Even before that fateful event -- one small guy 15 year old or lesser came to our house - used to come every year. He says "Do NOT go anywhere for next 15 days -- your time KAAL is here!!". My father asked him to talk about kids and not him. So he looked at my little sis and he says "she is very lucky" -- her karma is good. He looks at me and says "Isako kisiki nazar nahi lagegi -- isase dusareki nazar uataregi"., Then he asks my mother to NOT let my father go anywhere for 15 days.

So my father assuming it is his bad time - avoids bus!! Takes 2 wheelers everywhere -- He meets with a very very surprising accident on Amawasya day -- where gears of his bullet fail and he in that moment instinctively GRABS the handle strongly not to be thrown away & bangs his head on the bullet headlamp assembly - assembly is smashed and so is his head obviously -- (Budh & RashiSwami Shukra in mesh). He bleeds for an hour (or more?) is unconscious and along the roadside, two folks appear out of nowhere and put him on the bike and take him to a private hospital -- they are denied -- they take him to civil hospital they are denied again without police case etc or something and finally Nashik Dadhiwal hospital admitted him and he survived after 2 days borderline fight.

He is today 72 years old --fully fit (God's grace) and hasn't fallen sick from like decades (before or after this accident) and has his ways of keeping fit without ANY walking or exercise or ANYTHING... (touch wood). He stopped eating Chapati / Gehu/Wheat on his own inspiration in the early 90s... eats chapati /wheat one a week or even when in Pune but avoids it as much as possible (6th Guru – Self-medication is the side effect).

The point is AVOID Fatalistic stuff and fatalistic predictions. Multiple astrologers firmly told him 35/36th as the age of Tata-Byebye and asked to "prepare". (Nobody wrote anything after age of 35 in their analysis!)
