AstroMNC: Trikons /Triangles in a Horoscope & their analysis for an individual
Jyotish (Astrology) literally means “Flame from The Gods” (“Jyot” of “Ish”) makes a great sense for any analysis which is psychological or philosophical. You can draw a very good profile of a person, natural inclinations, anger or pessimism, extrovert or introvert, chances of conflicting personality elements, spiritual or money minded, practical or emotional and so on. In a way astrology is perfect for what management terms as the SWOT analysis. One can draw a very good picture of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats for a given horoscope. Kaarmic burden/debt versus karmic reward is easily seen from a horoscope. You can also plot a good timeline chart where & how person will perform in certain age of life. i.e which area they would focus on and what kind of success they should expect. Health is a matter which can be very acutely described from a chart and even intensity of the issues could be described to a great detail. For this article let us look at a very broad concept and how one can easily relate to their own chart.
Pre-requisite to make complete sense of this article: What each house of a horoscope shows/means. What each planet Governs. I will include some links here that you can refer to make sense of your horoscope. Rather will try to include tables below in the article for a quick reference.
TRIKON – Triangles in Horoscope/Chart:
There are 12 houses in the horoscope (30 degrees, 12 sign = 360) – 1 to 12. They could be divided into following 4 Triangles or TRIKON. Each trikon (triangle) has 3 house signs which are Nava-Pancham (9-5) to each other. Of course for a given individual horoscope - -one TRIKON will contain 1 element signs only.
1. House# 1, 5, 9 – DHARMA Trikon (Dharma as in DUTY and NOT Religion – Daily, Weekly, Monthly Duties, Duties towards self, job, family, society etc) Things one MUST do and have to do.
2. House# 2, 6, 10 – ARTHA TRIKON (Economic Triangle) – Money / Cash / Wealth – Investments, Funds, Debts, Service Sector, Medical Sector, Production Sector etc – anything that generates money & livelihood.
3. House# 3 7 11 -- KAAM TRIKON (PERIPHERAL things in life – What an “Individual” loves to do wants to do, Art, expression, Picnics, Acting, Collaborations/Partnerships, Physical acts etc
4. House# 4, 8, 12 – MOKSHA TRIKON (Spiritual Triangle) – Inner peace, Ability to feel & stay happy, Provide good environment/advice to others, Alternate healing methods, secret/mystique knowledge, metaphysical world
The name of each triangle is quite “loaded”. Pause for a minute & let it sink in. As you can see this categorization gives you a QUICK ability to check where you horoscope is inclined.
So the SIMPLE RULE is à The TRIKON where you have most of the planets has the most effect on your life or that is your destiny. For example Dhirubhai had most planets in Erth-Trikon and Dharma-Trikon. Rather his two major planets SHANI (2nd house Own sign of Makar) and Guru in the 10th house which is also Moon-Sun-Ascendant Dhanu owner – means his lagnesh/rashiswami etc also in the economic zone. Also Moon-Sun in the Dharma-trikon in the first house. So the major TRIKON for his life was combination of money-matters and duties. Kapil Dev has Sun and Mars in the KAAM Trikon – things one loves to do, free flow not bound by rules! Whereas Gavaskar / Dhoni are more dutiful with Mars in the Dharma-Trikon.
IN the horoscope below:
(It doesn’t show Uranus and Neptune). I have purposely chosen MESH / ARIES as lagna/Ascendant so no confusion with houses and signs! J In this horoscope 1st sign is also where 1st house is and 2nd house where 2nd sign is. Makes it easier for folks who don’t understand charts. Usually house numbers are not marked and they are “understood” in the horoscope. As you can see centers of these houses 1 5 9 would form a literal triangle if joined together! Same goes with 2 6 10 houses and so on. The Moksha-Trikon has 4 (Surya Rahu Shukra Budh) planets, the economic zone has 3 (Guru Ketu Chandra) Kaam has 2 (3rd MANGAL 11th SHANI) and Dharma has NOTHING in it!
So you can check your horoscope and see where planets are mostly places.
For example for me – I have 3 +2 (5) planets in the Dharma Trikon – duties and 5 planets in the Moksha-trikon (Astro, spiritual etc) and 1 Ketu in the Kaam-Trikon. As you can see I am a dutiful person with a highly busy/demanding job which needs me to do daily, weekly, monthly and repetitive tasks for a living whereas the MokshaTrikon planets drive my strong astrological and mild spiritual pursuits.
Most of the artists and free-flow folks who can’t be limited by any boundaries, poets, painters, singers and so on are governed by the KAAM-TRIKON. Most of the saints and spiritual pursuits are governed by the MOKSHA trikon planets. Similar descriptions to other trikon also apply. For example I joke that IT industry – Dharma Trikon is PM and DM positions whereas KAAM TRIKON is about Architects and Domain folks. Whereas I jokingly call Consulting (gyan-baaji) folks are MokshaTrion folks who give gyan all day long to everybody they meet but don’t execute anything! J All these people but more so PM and DMs need to also watch out for the ARTH-TRIKON but that is mostly taken care by SALES function in IT.
NOW – A bit more complicated – MESH SINGH and DHANU (Fire Signs Aries, Leo and Saggi) are NATURAL ascendants as for them Dharma Trikon Signs are in Dharma Trikon, Artha (Vrishabh Kanya and Makar) in Artha, Emotional/Moksha signs in Moskha Trikon and so on. You can see above horoscope – Fire signs in Dharma Trikon whereas water signs in the Moksha Trikon (4 8 12). Other lagna rashi things get mixed up.
Analysis For example :
1. Vrishabh lagna would have economic sector signs in the Dharma-Trikon – Conclusion: The person will occupy dutiful posts but in economic sector?
2. Vrishchik lagna – Kaam Trikon / Air Signs of Kumbh Mithun and Tula in the MOKSHA Trikon - - So intellectual approach to the spiritual subject? More playful/freeflow approach towards spirituality?!
3. Meen Lagna – Moksha signs in the Dharma Trikon – i.e. Meen, Kirk and Vrishchik signs in the 1 5 9 houses --- Dutiful positions in the spiritual subjects (Running an Ashram ath etc)
4. And so on and so on - -Each horoscope has 4 Trikon and specific element or trikon signs permutations & combinations and accordingly attitude of a person could be judged.
The subject could be complicated by saying that owners of the KAAM-TRIKON houses in Spiritual houses can make Asaraam Baabu or even owners of the Moksha Trikon houses in the Kaam Trikon houses can also give such inclination – quite possible! If planets are not in GURU drushti or some planets in MEEN rashi – such powers could be used for some unwarranted personal gains! Even OSHO would have this conflict of Moskha and Kaam Trikon mingling together.
As you can see some trikon is not PRO to some trikon – KAAM TRIKON obviously not very good for Moksha Trikon as Kaam Trikon creates a lot of Kriyamaan karma and has an external impact of your behavior on the surroundings. It moves a lot of material around which is not the best for attaining Moksha. Similarly too many planets in Moksha takes person away from their DUTY! As Moksha Trikon planets are either Wyay (12), Mriryu/Haani (8) from the 2 DUTY houses. You can see that one strong trikon would reduce activities in the other trikon. Dhirubhai would follow economy and duties and not singing and debates and writing poems! J
As you can see the TRIKON thinking is quite DEEP even though being so simple and logical. Lord Krishna also mentions these TRIKONS in Bhagwad-Geeta as per various articles I came across. He was Vrishabh Lagna Vrishabh Lagna and Leo Sun in the 4th house himself. Provided good environment for others due to Sun but was dutiful in one sense too as Moon in the first house but Moon is para-prakashit so he achieved thru others – At times when 100 counts done he used his FIRE SIGN SUN in LEO despite being in Moksha to take action against Jarasandh.
Lord Rama – Kirk Lagna Kirk Rashi and –Shani in the 4th house with Surya in the 10th house. Duty, moksha (wanawaas) and also Karma (Raavan wadh).
Analysis of Planets:
1. As you can see material planets like Shukra, Mangal are well suited in Kaam-Trikon or Duty or worst ERTH Trikon they being in Spiritual trikon can bring in some conflicts.
2. GURU like Dharmik planet is most suited in 1 5 9 in the Dharma Trikon or say Moksha Trikon.
3. Neptune is most suited in Moksha Trikon and next Dharma Trikon.
4. Uranus best suited in 3 7 11 nature wise than say duties or moksha trikon.
5. Shani is nishkam karma yogi -- would not have any affinity to any trikon.
6. Budh is OK anywhere but it acts as per colleagues – So colleagues needs to be in right trikons suitable for them! J
7. Rahu is natural in KAAM and ERTH-TRIKON and not so in Moksha-Trikon and Dharma-Trikon.
8. Ketu is natural in Moksha and in Dharma and not so in Kaam-trikon.
9. And So on – USE LOGY of Astrology – Logic to derive your own conclusions.
Guru in some TRIKON shows past karma good in that Trikon (for me Moksha) and Shani in Some Trikon means past karma deficit and obligation in that Trikon. SUN in some trikon shows AUTHORITY & EGO in THAT specific house but might not be true for the whole trikon itself.
Complicate all this article by Lagna (Destiny) & Moon (Desire)! J But would suggest to check Lagna-chart and moon position which is your desire – Trikon
*Erth means Money/Finance
